About
8-11 years old
The TAS U12 program is for 8-11-year-olds who want to develop advanced skiing skills and begin or continue alpine ski racing. This program offers competitive training and racing opportunities. We emphasize the development of basic skiing fundamentals and teach technical racing skills and gate racing tactics in all alpine racing events, preparing the skier for competition and an easy transition to higher levels of racing.
Weekend training starts in early December and runs through the end of March. Wednesday evening training starts in January and ends in March. The price includes Christmas Camp but does not include Fall Camps or Thanksgiving Camp.
U12 $3300 (Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday night)
U12 Add on $600 (Thursday night)
This is pricing before October 15th. After that date, there is a $150 increase. You must pay in full by November 30th.
The evening training starts in January and ends in March.
Daily Activities
Training is typically at West. Alpental may be used as an alternative. Weekly emails will be sent detailing plans. Training begins at 8:45 am, lunch 11:30-12:30; the program ends at 3:00 pm. Times and places subject to change.
Dryland
Included in tuition. Starts September, must be registered and signed the waiver before eligible to participate.
Ability Requirements
No racing experience necessary. Athletes must be able to ski all runs at the Summit at Snoqualmie, including all runs at Alpental, West, Central, and East. Athletes also need the ability to ski intermediate terrain with linked, parallel turns. They must be able to load and ride the chairlift without an adult. They must be able to listen and follow directions from an adult. Athletes must be mature enough to be separated from their parents without anxiety. This is not a ski school, and the focus is on racing fundamentals (technique and tactics).
Equipment Requirements
Ski Racing HELMETS are required for all athletes. Skis (any skis will do, but we recommend an 8-13m radius ski that is the same height as the athlete standing in their boots), 3 or 4 buckle ski boots, winter ski clothing, goggles, ski gloves, and water bottle. We recommend extra goggles and gloves, a snack or an extra lunch.
Methodology
Freeskiing 25%, Directed Skiing & Gate Drills 25%, Gate Training 50%.
